Du Zhong (Eucommiae Cortex) – Eucommia Bark

Mã sản phẩm: SKU-0752122025

Du Zhong (Eucommia Bark) is one of the most important traditional Chinese medicinal herbs, well-known for its powerful ability to tonify the Liver and Kidneys, strengthen bones and tendons, and support pregnancy. The bark of Eucommia ulmoides is rich in bioactive compounds such as alkaloids, triterpenoids, saponins, flavonoids, vitamins, and essential minerals, giving it a wide range of therapeutic benefits. Du Zhong is commonly used in formulas that treat lower back pain, weak knees, joint degeneration, osteoporosis, as well as nocturnal emission, impotence, and frequent urination caused by Kidney deficiency.

In gynecology and obstetrics, Du Zhong is highly valued for its ability to stabilize pregnancy, prevent miscarriage, and strengthen the overall condition of pregnant women. The herb also helps lower blood pressure, reduce cholesterol, and promote vasodilation, making it beneficial for cardiovascular health.

Thanks to its anti-inflammatory and strong antioxidant effects, Du Zhong enhances immune function, protects nerve cells, regulates blood sugar, and supports lipid metabolism—making it suitable for individuals at risk of diabetes or metabolic disorders. Modern research further shows that Eucommia leaves offer similar medicinal effects to the bark, providing a more convenient alternative.

Du Zhong can be used in various forms such as decoction, medicinal wine, powder, or herbal extract, making it versatile for different wellness needs. Although generally safe, it should be used with caution in individuals with yin deficiency heat or latex allergies. With its wide-ranging therapeutic properties, Du Zhong has become a highly valued herb for supporting bone health, reproductive health, cardiovascular function, and immunity.

  • Treats pediatric deficiency-cold patterns, congenital weakness, infantile asthma, malnutrition, delayed speech, and rickets.

2) Reproductive – Gynecological – Obstetric

  • Calms the fetus, treats threatened miscarriage, vaginal bleeding during pregnancy (Tai Lou Xia Xue), warms the uterus, strengthens fetal foundation, and treats postpartum disorders.
  • Treats dysmenorrhea, qi–blood deficiency, and perimenopausal syndrome.
  • Treats genital pruritus in both men and women caused by damp-heat.
  • Treats spermatorrhea, Kidney weakness, impotence, and tonifies essence (Jing).

3) Urinary – Kidney System

Tonifies the Kidneys, treats Kidney deficiency, treats dysuria and frequent urination at night, promotes urination, regulates Kidney functions in TCM, assists in reducing hypertension due to Kidney yin deficiency, enhances filtration and body fluid regulation.

4) Digestive – Spleen & Stomach

Tonifies Qi and strengthens the Spleen, enhances digestive function, improves poor digestion and nutrient absorption, nourishes the body’s essential substances.

5) Nervous System – Mind

  • Strengthens willpower and mental clarity, treats neurasthenia, helps relieve stress, modulates the central nervous system, provides neuroprotective effects, reduces risk of neurodegeneration, supports delayed speech in children (per TCM).

Treats bronchial asthma (stable phase), helps relieve cough and bronchospasm (TCM), and exhibits antimicrobial effects on the respiratory tract.

8) Immune – Inflammation – Metabolism

  • Enhances immunity, anti-inflammatory, stimulates adrenal cortex activity, possesses strong antioxidant effects, regulates cellular functions, assists in glycemic regulation, has potential benefits for metabolic disorders and diabetes, aids in lipid metabolism and reducing blood lipids.
  • Leaves, branches, and bark all regulate cellular functions and strengthen immune activity.

9) Antimicrobial Actions

Inhibits pneumococci, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Shigella spp., leukocytic bacilli, and hemolytic Streptococcus group B.

ECOLOGICAL VALUE OF EUCOMMIA

Beyond its therapeutic value, Eucommia (Eucommia ulmoides Oliv.) also provides several ecological benefits:

  • Soil and Water Conservation: Its roots and canopy help stabilize soil and reduce erosion, while fallen leaves contribute organic matter and improve soil water retention.
  • Carbon Sequestration and Climate Regulation: As a perennial tree, Eucommia absorbs CO₂, stores carbon in its biomass, and provides shade, contributing to local temperature regulation.
  • Biodiversity Support: Its canopy and leaf litter provide microhabitats for small organisms, supporting soil microbial communities and ecological interactions.
  • Agroforestry Value: It has potential applications in afforestation, soil conservation, and sustainable medicinal tree cultivation in suitable environments.
  • Ecological Considerations: Excessive bark harvesting may damage or kill trees. Sustainable harvesting practices and conservation of threatened wild populations are essential.

Eucommia offers dual value—therapeutic and ecological—by providing medicinal resources while supporting soil conservation, carbon storage, and ecosystem functions through sustainable cultivation and harvesting.
